Chasing Flowers

zeflorist

In the mist of exploring Miami’s graffiti scene tags like MSG and Atomik are very predominate in the streets but blooming from roof tops, construction sites and the US postal service box are beautiful flowers from ZeFlorist. I can recall maybe spotting a flower somewhere in Miami but it wasn’t until I actually started paying attention that I took notice to the lovely flowers sprouted around the city.

My generic commute transformed into more of an adventure. My new found “flower chase” began in North Miami NE 125st there on the roof top at Jimmy’s Place a black and white flower stating that ZeFlorist was here and there grew my curiosity. Over a span of a week and taking various alternate routes, I drove with cautious eyes. On one day coming down on 2nd ave NE 83st Little Haiti; spotted — a flower on the corner. Another day heading south on NW 7ave two flower sightings and proclaimed that “Yo, ZeFlorist is from the hood”, lol.

So from North Miami, Little Haiti , south of NW 7 ave, Biscayne Blvd (as far down as 19st where I spotted a flower on the side of a dumpster while randomly making a U turn)  to a Wynwood roof top, an alley way in the Design District, north and south bound I-95 sightings and only God knows what’s in Downtown I could form a mental garden. Also I began to wonder isZeFlorist a girl, nah a guy for sure but if she’s a girl how bad ass but some of the areas were way to sketchy” . . . .

Although the identity of the artist is yet determined. I was able to uncover a instagram and website and was hoping for a sighting during my pursuit of flowers; It felt like a new edition of Pokémon Go. PeeP the captures that entailed car dodging, sudden U turns and sketchy neighborhoods.
